Advaitha – A Symphony
About
We are the parents, family members, and friends of Advaitha, a bright young soul whose life was tragically cut short in the turbulent waters of Pawna Lake near Pune.
While this pain is deeply personal, it speaks to a larger, urgent truth—each day, someone, somewhere, loses their life to drowning. These incidents are often brushed off as routine, occupying a small corner in newspapers. But for those who have lost a child, sibling, or friend, it is not just an incident—it is a lifetime of pain.

Born of Love and Loss
Out of our pain, we have built a purpose:
The Hemant Bala Advaitha Foundation is our way of channelling grief into meaningful action.
We want to remind young people that their lives matter, not just to themselves but to their families, friends, and society. In the rush of youth and thrill-seeking, that truth is often forgotten. But we want them to live—to realize their dreams and to find fulfilment.
For Advaitha. For every child. For every life.
Why We Came Together
According to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) 2022, over 38,000 people die from drowning in India every year, with youth being the most vulnerable. While there are many awareness drives around road safety, drug abuse, and drunk driving, drowning prevention remains critically overlooked.
We believe this must change.
“Prevention is better than cure”—a truth often ignored when it comes to water safety.
Science and technology have enabled smarter rescue measures, but without public awareness and state accountability, these tools remain underutilized. Authorities must recognize their responsibility and act with urgency.
Our Mission
We aim to:
-
Raise public awareness around drowning deaths
-
Advocate for systemic safety reforms
-
Encourage government accountability
-
Promote youth education on water safety and precaution
Driven by Advaitha’s family and supported by our extended network of loved ones, we have made it our life’s mission to ensure that even if one life is saved, it becomes a tribute to the memory of our beloved son.
We lost ADVAITHA in turbulent waters of Pawna Lake on 23 June 2024. He was not even 19.
Losing your dear ones is very painful and we do not want anyone to suffer the same pain.
Have fun, but be Safe
We are not saying don’t indulge in adventure. Youth is the best time to experiment with life. But you need to be careful, irrespective of negligence by the authorities that are supposed to prevent mishaps. We understand that your wings are new and you wish to fly high.
When you go to bat in cricket you go in full gear to protect yourself. When you drive you wear seatbelts, when you ride a horse, you take full precautions against a likely fall. Should we not adopt the same attitude while going for other activities. It is better to be safe than sorry.
